INFINITE LOVE
“How much do you love me, Daddy?” a child asked his father affectionately.
The father separated his hands and showed the gap. But the child was not satisfied.
He asked again, “Only that much, Daddy?” The father spread his hands a little farther. “Is this enough?” he asked. Still the child was not satisfied.
Answering the repeated innocent inquiries of the child, he moved his hands further every time till he reached the maximum possible extent. Looking at the father with fully extended arms, the child remarked, “Daddy, now you look like Jesus on the Cross”.
That was quite true. Jesus was crucified with his hands fully extended to either side as if to show that He was ready to embrace the whole humanity. His position expressed His infinite love which could encompass every person ever born and to be born in the world. With his arms outstretched unto infinity, Jesus on the Cross embraced and redeemed all humanity in His sacred sacrifice. Jesus taught us, “The greatest love a person can have for his friends is to give his life for them” {John 15: 13 }.
